One day I was busy doing nothing and basically minding my own business when out of nowhere I realised I had not posted on my blog for a while. After a few minutes of thinking, I would like you to know that I did not come up with a post. It is then that I remembered our company appraisals done towards the end of last year where someone politely said I pissed them off (not exactly in those words, but that is what they meant). Unfortunately, I do not know who it is, so I still suspect everyone and I have made a point of pissing everyone at will since I have to retain the trophy of being the most annoying guy in the office when appraisals are done again.

 To matters at hand, I would like you to help me in doing an appraisal for my blog. Simply, I will nominate posts that I think are nice and you are to vote for the best post. Caleb Kipkan Ngugi: An Appeal For Your Assistance

You may have heard of The Let Me Live Concert. It was a concert whose aim was to raise money for Caleb Kipkan Ngugi, a sixteen year old boy who needs to travel to South Africa for a bone marrow transplant to cure acute leukemia. The concert was successful and massive thanks go out to all those who made their way to NPC Woodley despite of the heavy rains. The various groups and artists who performed for free also deserve a big pat on the back.

Unfortunately, Caleb was taken ill on the night after the concert and is currently admitted at Getrudes Hospital (Muthaiga). He was in need of blood but luckily, Red Cross and Carol Radull donated about 16 pints of blood.

So many of you have helped in one way or another and you cannot be thanked enough for your kindness. However, the money that had been raised at the concert and through the sale of merchandise and artists CDs was not going to be enough to cater for the transplant that is set to cost about 5.5 million. It is in this regard that you are kindly asked to help out financially or in any other way that you can. Contributions of whatever amount can be sent to Grace Kipkan’s M-Pesa number 0727 647 085 or Caleb Ngugi Kipkan’s medical fund Co-op Bank University Way account number 01109172153500.  Even that 50 bob will go a long way in helping. Let Me Live Concert Part Two: Video Promo

You may have heard about Caleb Ngugi Kipkan, the sixteen year old boy who is suffering from Acute Leukemia and needs a bone marrow transplant. Some wonderful people have come up with a concert dubbed Let Me Live which will raise money to aid Caleb travel to South Africa for his transplant. There are so many ways we can help. Gratitude to everyone who has done anything towards the success of the Let Me Live drive including the artists who will perform, those who have visited Caleb in hospital or donated blood, anyone who has donated money through the available means and those who shared the info by way of mouth or on social sites. Let Me Live Concert

Most of us had dreams when we were young. To become lawyers, doctors, businessmen, engineers or even Presidents. Some of us live our dreams while some of us had to re-adjust ours. Still, most of us have new dreams. To own that Range Rover sport or that company or that land in Turkana. Caleb Ngugi Kipkan is a 16 year old Form Two student at Cardinal Maurice Otunga School in Kiambu. His dream is to get an A (plain) in KCSE come 2014 and later become a pilot. While most Form Two students are sure of sitting their exams in 2014, Caleb is not 100% sure. There is a small obstacle to his dream which goes by the name of Acute Leukemia. In-case you missed his story on Citizen TV, take six minutes of your time and watch this video.

 

 

Caleb needs to travel to South Africa for a bone marrow transplant which will cost Kshs. 5.5 million if he has his own donor or Kshs. 8.5 million if he has to use an international donor. The family only has about Kshs. 2.5 million, but they are optimistic of using a sibling as a donor. This amount does not include upkeep and air tickets to and from South Africa.

 

It is with this in mind that Leah Midamba and a few people have organised a concert dubbed “LET ME LIVE.” All proceeds from the concert will go towards helping Caleb get his bone marrow transplant and live his dream. Performers at the concert will include:

 

 

The best part of it is that you get to see all these performers for only Kshs. 200 knowing you are helping someone’s dream become a reality. Moreover, the artists will carry their CDs which will be sold at subsidised rates. If I were you, I would mark 15th April and make sure I head to NPC Woodley as from 1 PM so as not to miss out on the opportunity to make a difference in Caleb’s life.

 

If for whatever reason you cannot attend the concert – and even if you will attend – there are many other ways you can still help. I will outline a few:

 

  • Caleb is currently hospitalized at Gertrude’s Hospital (Muthaiga) and he needs blood. Willing donors of any blood group can contact Jack on 0723 156 621. You can also pay Caleb a visit from 12:30-1 PM and from 5-9 PM;

  • You can kindly send your contributions of whatever value via M-PESA to Grace Kipkan on 0727 647 085 or to Caleb Ngugi Kipkan’s medical fund Co-op Bank University Way account number 01109172153500;

  • Buy merchandise such as branded T-shirts whose proceeds will go to the kitty;
